Two loaded handguns are now off the streets of Albany.
Police say around 6 p.m. Friday, a detective saw a vehicle parked in the middle of Lark Street near Lancaster Street that was obstructing traffic. The detective directed the vehicle to move and initiated a traffic stop.
Passenger Sharod Hawkins, 22, of Schenectady, was found in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun that he had concealed in his pocket.
A loaded 9mm handgun was also located under the front passenger seat.
Hawkins is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
Four other occupants were each charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd:
• John Kemp, 21, of Schenectady
• Jabbar Bunch, 29, of Albany
• A 16-year-old male from Schenectady
• A 17-year-old female from Schenectady
Hawkins, Kemp and Bunch were all arraigned Saturday morning in Albany Criminal Court.
Both the 16 and 17 year old adolescent offenders are scheduled to be arraigned in Albany County Family Court.
