ALBANY - Following a month of gun violence in the city of Albany, local leaders are encouraging city residents to help stop it.

A new PSA was posted to Facebook earlier this week and is now being shared across other platforms as well.

City Council members and Albany County legislators teamed up for the PSA. It is one of the ways they're working to combat increased gun violence in the capital.

In the 60 second spot, we see and hear representatives from the wards and districts that see the most violence.

The month of June was one of the most violent on record in the city. More than 35 people were shot, including several innocent bystanders caught in the gunfire. Four people were killed.

Learn more about how leaders hope the PSA will help by watching the video of Jacquie Slater's story.
