Albany group recruiting volunteers to help combat violence

The violence in Albany and Troy this summer reminds us all of the need for young people to have positive role models in their life.

The city of Albany and more than a dozen groups that serve young people are asking for your help.

Serve Albany is recruiting volunteers.

They announced the effort Monday morning at Pine Hills Elementary School.

Mentors, tutors and volunteers are needed to help kids and parents find the services they need.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan says anyone can help their neighbor.
