A small drone takes flight for a big mission, spitting out Jeffrey pine seeds over a 25-acre area that burned in last year's Loyalton fire.

It's never been done on the eastern side of the Sierra.

The drone can drop 750 seed balls in a matter of three minutes. There's three or so seeds in each one, so they can drop 75,000 seeds in just a matter of hours, far outpacing what a group of hand crews could do.
