TROY - Rensselaer County announced a new partnership Monday morning to use more solar power in the county.
The event was held on the roof of the county office building in Troy.
The county signed up for 7.4 megawatts of clean energy from the company OYA Solar.
It will save the county $3 million over time by using solar power instead of power from fossil fuels.
County Executive Steve McLaughlin says it’s the equivalent of taking 17,000 cars off the road.
