EAST GREENBUSH - Students at Bell Top Elementary School in East Greenbush are celebrating maple syrup season.

They got a lesson in the three states of matter, the liquid sap that turns into a gas when they boil it and then it becomes solid as maple sugar candy.

First grade teacher Melanie Lyte says Tuesday's warmer weather gets the sap running.

The school got a grant about 25 years ago for a barn where all the magic happens.

Learn about the best type of weather for sap by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger's story.
