September 10 marked the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Up to that day, there have been 13 named storms, five of which became hurricanes, and three of which became major hurricanes, or have reached Category 3 status or higher.
With the current season not expected to slow down before ending on November 30, we are not in the clear just yet.
It may seem like tropical systems have packed more of a punch lately. Dr. Kristen Corbosiero with UAlbany's Atmospheric Science Department says this is something we can expect.
