Three seniors from Shaker High School competed this week in a Clean Tech Competition.

The team didn't place in the top three, but they did win a $1,000 prize.

They designed and built a device to help farmers predict the amount of crop yield based on the soil.

One team member came up with the idea while visiting family in Nepal.

He saw how farmers had little technology and relied heavily on pesticides. So he created a device that can predict for soybean data. That way, a farmer can see before they put seed in the ground, and know what kind of yield their soil is expected to create.
