From running the Green Meadow Elementary television studio to prompting random acts of kindness in the community, students say Jaimee Kusche is making a difference.

Kusche has been teaching at Green Meadow Elementary School for 18 years. She went through the East Greenbush School District herself.

"I've always known I wanted to be a teacher -- I would say since I was in 4th grade," Kusche said. "I just had a really awesome fourth grade teacher who inspired me."

She started the Green Meadow Television Program. Her 4th graders update the school at 9:15 a.m. daily with news birthday shout-outs and the weather.

"I really liked that it offers an opportunity for kids to get outside of their comfort zone," Kusche said.

5th Grader Julia Krisanda was one of Kusche's nominators. She was in Kusche's class last year.

"I don't know if I'm supposed to say this, but she was my favorite teacher -- of all of them in the school so far," Krisanda said.

She and other students say math is a favorite subject.

"My favorite subject is probably math, because I love all the songs and dances that she makes up," 4th Grader Ashlyn Soroko said.

Krisanda echos that.

"When we're learning about fractions -- when it was 'like denominators' -- we would say 'Like, denominators!' and we flip our hair," Krisanda said. "For most kids in my class, that was their favorite part of the year."

Kusche also started a random acts of kindness website. Students do a good deed, and pass a tag along with it.

"As the tag gets passed on through the community, more people write on the blog, and my students can see how kindness grows and travels throughout our community," Kusche said. "It's been really special for them."
