It has been less than a month, but Janelle Rabinowitz says the word is getting around that she has opened the second location of her skincare company, Renewal Skin Studio in Cohoes.

While Rabinowitz says she always wanted her own business, her family had a different idea of how she could be successful – by going to college.

She had taken cosmetology in high school and believed she's found her niche, but went to college anyway to please her family. However, she says she was not successful.

So she decided to take a risk. She had Black women in mind when she opened her first business in Latham in 2018.

"There are amazing, talented people who are service providers in this area, but they don't know how to deal with women of color, men of color, even, 'cause we do service men here, as well," said Rabinowitz.

This mom and wife has a lot on her plate, but happiness is also on the list, and she encourages others to do what makes them happy.

Learn about some of the services Rabinowitz offers in her studio by watching the video of Elaine Houston's story.
