Colonie hairstylist proud to become her own boss

COLONIE – Rebecca Taft is a taking a risk. She’s doing something she’s never done before – being her own boss.
Taft started doing hair in high school. She left the business to try finance. Then the pandemic hit, giving her time to pivot. So she went back to what made her happy.
She joins thousands of people across the country who realized they couldn’t do business as usual.
It wasn’t easy because there were a lot of things she had to learn – like getting permits and equipment.
Her salon, Modern Hair, opened on Wolf Road in Colonie last June.
She’s looking for booth renters, but she’s not looking back.
