It was a special day at Sand Creek Middle School on Wednesday. The students celebrated a milestone of collecting more than 12,000 books for the "Blessings of Books" project.

The school teamed up with Backpack International to collect gently used books. These books will be sent to a village in South America. The goal is to send the village enough books, so they can create a library.

For the last two months, the students worked hard on the project. They came by Wednesday to drop off the items in a U-Haul truck and to take photos to celebrate their hard work.

The books will be shipped out of New York City. It will take three to four weeks for them to arrive.
