U.S. Capitol police officer and Berkshire County native William Evans will lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer made the announcement Tuesday morning.

The 18-year veteran of the Capitol police was killed last Friday, when a man rammed his vehicle into a barricade.

The tribute for Officer Evans will take place next Tuesday.

Evens grew up in North Adams and went to Drury High School.
