Albany County is reporting 53 new positive COVID-19 cases Friday.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy says three people were hospitalized overnight. In total, there are 27 people in the hospital and two of those people are in the ICU.
"We are concerned. We are concerned that we are starting to see in the last few weeks an uptick in numbers that could in fact be what we have been concerned about all along, the beginning of a second wave," said Dr. Elizabeth Whalen, Commissioner for the Albany County Department of Health.
On Thursday, county health officials reported four positive cases at the Albany County Department of Health.
County Executive McCoy is reminding people to wear their masks and practice social distancing.
