Authorities in Albany County are monitoring COVID-19 data closely.

The concern continues to be with people between 20 and 29 years old. Albany County Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen said people that young are notorious for not worrying about their own health.

“I think all of this kind of gathers together to create, in a sense, a perfect storm for communicability. They don't want to be wearing masks, they want to be together in groups, they want to be going to concerts and going out to parties, etc. There's a lot of potential there for spread,” Dr. Whalen said.

Dr. Whalen told NewsChannel 13 she’s also concerned about vacationers who won’t quarantine when returning from places with higher rates of infection.
