A state lawmaker claims there's bipartisan support for a bill that would establish an independent investigation into coronavirus deaths at state run nursing homes.

The legislation was first introduced by local Republican Senator Jim Tedisco.

Ron Kim, a Democratic Assemblyman from Queens introduced a matching bill in the Assembly.

Tedisco told NewsChannel 13 he believes the number of nursing home residents who died from coronavirus is much higher than the state reported.

Hear both Assemblymen talk more about why they support this bill by watching the video of Emily Burkhard’s story.
