The Capital Region has hit a COVID vaccination milestone. More than 50% of Capital Region residents have received at least one shot according to the state COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker.

This includes residents in Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, and Washington counties.

Albany Medical Center leads the Capital Region Vaccine Network. They say we're the first area in the state to reach that number.

They also say 37% of people 16 and older in the Capital Region are fully vaccinated, which also leads the state.

Health officials say at least 75% of a population needs to be immune to build herd immunity.
