CLIFTON PARK - They're mixing up a recipe for success at Dolce and Biscotti.

A dozen bakers were busy Monday afternoon preparing the treats the business is famous for.

These days, cookies are the bakery's bread and butter.

Fifteen soft, chewy sugar cookies, four different homemade frostings, and a variety of sprinkles, all boxed up in a kit with the theme of your choice and shipped directly to your kitchen.

No cooking or baking, just the fun of decorating.

Several months ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, owner Mary Bald-Fron says it wasn't much fun.

"When it struck, it was a little scary. We had to reduce our staff."

So like any good baker, Baldi-Fron improvised, tweaking her cookie decorating kits to make them even easier to use at home, she got the help of Mannix Marketing, a Glens Falls web and search engine firm and secured all the websites using the keywords "Cookies To Decorate."

"Because when they search for it, they're going to be searching for 'cookies to decorate.' And we purchased every domain name even close to that."

The concept has taken off.

By the end of the year, they expect to have shipped 5,000 of the kits all over the country.

Baldi-Fron started the business in the basement of her Clifton Park home.

For the past ten years it's been here in this plaza on Route 9.

She wants to stay here, but may soon need another place for the growing cookies to decorate business.

"We still want to keep Dolce and Biscotti Bakery but maybe in the future, there might be an offsite location where all the cookies to decorate is done."

The kits cost $29 and are available in the bakery or online at cookiedecoratingkits.com.
