Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced in January he had received $9 million from the U.S. Treasury to help landlords struggling to cover their expenses during the pandemic, with the state's eviction moratorium in place.

It's now nearly three months later, and not a dollar of that money has been given to any landlords.

McCoy was ready to get it out to people in need. However, he just needed the state's blessing, because he says the state received $800 million to divvy up however it wanted.

It wasn't until this week that McCoy got that guidance, and it essentially ordered him to hand over the full $9 million to the state.

The state is asking for the money by April 27.

Find out what the state says could happen if McCoy doesn't hand over the money, and why he says he's concerned about the state taking control of it by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger's story.
