"The director there has a done a good job. She contacted us initially and right from the beginning we were helping her do the tracing," said Jack Mabb, Director for the Columbia County Department of Health.

Mabb says the outbreak in the center was first discovered last week. Contact tracing seems to indicate the virus enterd the building by a staff member who has a spouse that works at Greene Correctional Facility where they are also seeing a large spike in cases.

"It is significant. It's very significant," said Mabb.

Also in Columbia County, two staff members at the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack tested positive.

Five youths and four staff members at the Columbia Girls Secure Center tested positive.

There are 10 staff members who live outside Columbia County who are also infected.

"It's a jig bump considering it's a relatively small facility. It's quite a cluster there," said Mabb.
