NY state coronavirus infection rate drops slightly

Coronavirus numbers looked better Friday than they have all week. However, there's still a long way to go.

With nearly 5,500 new cases, the infection rate sits at 2.66%. That's down from Wednesday, when it was 3.43% However, more than 2,300 people are hospitalized.

In the Capital Region, the positivity rate dropped from 2.2% Wednesday to 1.9% Thursday.

In the Mohawk Valley, the positivity rate rose from 2.2% Wednesday to 2.3% Thursday.

Unfortunately, another 32 people died, including people from Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Oneida counties.
