Third case of UK coronavirus strain found in Albany County

One new case of the UK coronavirus variant has been found in Albany County, bringing the total to three.

Gov. Cuomo says it was one of 18 new cases in the state tied to the UK variant.

It follows seven previously diagnosed cases in Saratoga County and six in Warren County.

Gov. Cuomo also says a second case connected to the South African variant was found in Nassau County.

The state's positivity rate currently stands at 4.23%.

Hospitalizations are at 5,977, up 173 over the last day.

Sadly, another 86 people died.

In the Capital Region, the positivity rate stayed flat from Sunday to Monday at 1.99%.

In the Mohawk Valley, the positivity rate dropped from 2.03% Sunday to 1.96% on Monday.
