The number of new COVID cases, fueled by the highly contagious Delta variant, continues to surge.

Cases are slowly rising again in New York.

There are 981 new cases across the state within the last day.

The daily positivity rate is 1.23%. The 7-day average is 1.09%.

There are 360 people hospitalized, a net increase of 20.

Sadly, two more deaths are reported.

"To win this war once and for all, we must continue to capitalize on our most effective weapon - the vaccine. Those who continue to avoid it are not only putting their own well-being at risk, but they are threatening the health and safety of those around them," said Gov. Cuomo in a statement.

The 7-day positivity rate in the Capital Region rose from 1.14% on Wednesday to 1.28% on Thursday.

The 7-day positivity rate in the Mohawk Valley was flat at 0.69% from Wednesday to Thursday.
