ALBANY - There won't be ice skating at the Empire State Plaza this year.

The Office of General Services says the skating season and annual tree lighting and fireworks are canceled over coronavirus concerns.

However, decorated trees will still be in front of the state Capitol.

If you have one between 35 and 55 feet tall you think might work, and it's away from power lines, call Kevin Ciampi at OGS (518) 474-8860. You can also email

You need to include your name, contact info, and a photo of the tree if you can.
