The FDA approved the coronavirus saliva swab test this week.

It was developed by SUNY Upstate Medical University and Quadrant Biosciences. The tests were used across all SUNY campuses, and now labs also have the go-ahead to use them.

SUNY Chancellor Dr. Jim Malatras says they've spent $100,000 on a handful of new machines to process the test kits, which he adds are done at cost ranging from $15 to $25 a test.

Learn how the tests have been a game changer at SUNY and the possibility on them being expanded to other areas by watching the video of Jill Konopka's story.
