The New York State Department of Labor says it's identified more than 1.1 million fraudulent unemployment benefit claims during the pandemic.

More than 4.6 million New Yorkers have collected unemployment benefits since the pandemic started, totaling more than $81 billion.
The state says they identified over one million fraudulent, unemployment benefit claims.

If you get a text from a 10-digit phone number claiming to be NYS DOL, it's a scam, and you should delete it immediately.

Texts from the Labor Department will only come from 468311 or 22751.

If you hear from the Labor Department regarding unemployment benefits you didn't apply for, you may be a victim of fraud.

If you suspect you're a victim, you should report it right away.
