Gov. Cuomo's daily coronavirus briefings from earlier this year have won an Emmy.

The International Emmy Founders Award will be presented virtually to the governor on November 23.

The award is presented to someone who "crosses cultural boundaries to touch our common humanity."

They cite the way he used the pandemic to "inform and calm people all over the world."

"The governor's 111 daily briefings worked so well because he effectively created television shows, with characters, plot lines, and stories of success and failure. People around the world tuned in to find out what was going on, and New York Tough became a symbol of the determination to fight back," said International Academy President & CEO, Bruce L. Paisner in a statement.

The governor did a total of 111 consecutive daily briefings from March 2 to June 29. Many of them were seen throughout the country and around the world.
