Some state lawmakers and landlords are speaking out about the state's rent moratorium that's expected to be extended next week.
The New York State Senate minority held a Zoom news conference with landlords across the state on Wednesday.
They're saying the courts needs to begin hearing eviction cases, and that landlords aren't seeking aid because it comes with strings attached.
The moratorium would be extended to August, and continues a temporary stop on evictions and foreclosures for those facing financial hardship from the pandemic.
Many are also concerned about the long-term effects this will have on the housing industry.
