The New York State Assembly will continue to meet virtually through next month.

That announcement came Monday by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.

He extended a rule change that started in March, due to the pandemic, which allows the Assembly to use remote procedures.

Speaker Heastie says he hopes the Assembly can safely convene on January 6. That is opening day of the new legislative session.
