Old Friends at Cabin Creek, the thoroughbred retirement farm in Saratoga County, had to cancel their major fundraising event. They couldn't even allow visitors on site, which was also a big source for donations.  However, it can all change this week when they re-open for business.

Every week, 40 volunteers make their way to Greenfield Center outside Saratoga Springs to help out at Old Friends at Cabin Creek, where many thoroughbred race horses can retire in peace. Owner JoAnn Pepper says taking care of them is important, but not inexpensive.

During the winter and spring, they would usually be open for tours just once a week. That was possible because summertime track season was always busy. Lots of visitors and lots of generous donations. However, they've had to keep visitors away and with no fans at the track this season, they're hoping locals will rediscover them once they re-open for tours this week.

They'll be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There's no cost to visit, but those donations are welcomed.

There will be some changes. Learn about what those are by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger's story.
