SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Thursday marks another big step in the reopening process.

Outdoor dining for restaurants can start Thursday, but with some new changes in place.

The unexpected announcement from the governor came the same day as the Capital Region began Phase II of reopening. Originally, restaurants were not expected to reopen until Phase III.

Currently, restaurants will only be able to operate outdoor dining

Restaurant owners in Saratoga Springs say the move is a pleasant surprise and a big relief.

There will be social distancing in place. Servers will be required to wear a mask. You will be asked to wear a mask as you wait to be seated for outdoor dining.

Some restaurants in Saratoga Springs say their outdoor seating is ready to go Thursday. Others, like 15 Church, say they need a day or two to rearrange their patio seating to accommodate social distancing.
