UAlbany is launching its pooled testing this week.

As NewsChannel 13 first told you last week, the testing was developed by the school's research arm, The RNA Institute.

In this process, four samples are tested together. If the pool tests positive, the four individuals will be tested.

The school says this method will allow them to better understand how many students and staff are infected, regardless of symptoms.

Testing kits will be distributed on campus.
