SARATOGA SPRINGS - Curtis Stancliffe got his first COVID vaccine shot at Prestwick Chase at Saratoga.

"We've been all waiting anxiously and the day is here!" he said.

Pharmacists were on site to administer the vaccine.

"It's awesome," said Stancliffe.  "It really saves a lot of issues and anxiety for people that have to go someplace for it."

The vaccine is in high demand. Appointments can be hard to get.

Before this, Jim and Pat Briglin could only book Plattsburgh for the shots, days apart.

"So I'd have to drive two and half hours north, and I'd have to do that twice because I scheduled for myself, went right back in, and it was four days later," said Jim.

Prestwick Chase at Saratoga is an independent living community for people 55 and up, with restaurants, amenities, and activities.

The facility has been COVID-free for 10 months.

There has been quarantine and no visitors, so the facility built a heated cabin outside the main building where residents can meet with family and friends.

"We helped people with Instacart, we did grocery shopping for people, and these are things that we haven't done before in the past, but under the circumstances, these are some of the things we had to do," said John Rowe, Marketing Director of Prestwick Chase at Saratoga.

Residents are grateful for this convenient clinic. For many, this shot brings a sense of relief, and a hope that life will soon return to normal.

"Everybody was very excited," said Pat Briglin.  "They do wonderful things for us here and I know they must have worked hard on this.  We appreciate it so much."

"I can't tell you how pleased we are with what they've done here for us, for the whole residence," said Jim Briglin.  "It's really great."
