Regal Cinemas announced Monday they it will reopen August 21, just in time for the release of Christopher Nolan's new film "Tenet."
AMC, the nation's largest chain, says it will open theaters back up either mid or late August, but no specific date has been given.

While an announcement is one thing, actually being allowed to reopen a movie theater in a particular state is another. For example, all of New York state is in Phase 4, but Governor Cuomo still hasn't given movie theaters the green light yet.

Also, you may not be able to see much, as movie studios have delayed the release of many films. However, that could change with this announcement.

The usual safety protocols will be in place - masks unless you are seated, frequent cleanings, and capacity will be reduced by 50 percent with two empty seats between groups.
