Rensselaer County reports highest-single day total for positive COVID-19 cases

Rensselaer County is reporting a large spike in cases of the coronavirus.

County health officials reported 38 new cases between Sunday and Monday, shattering the previous record of 32 cases in a single-day.

Several of the new cases include students in the Lansingburgh Central School District, East Greenbush Central School District, Uncommon Schools Troy Prep, Averill Park Central School District, and Rensselaer City School District.

The cases also include health care workers and people living in health care facilities. County officials say they are also seeing high numbers of people in quarantine for exposure and travel.

There has been a slight decrease in the number of people being hospitalized.
