When it comes to cancer, catching it early gives you the best chance for successful treatment.

If you wait until symptoms appear, it often means the cancer will be diagnosed at a later stage. That could mean more treatment, doctor visits, and hospital visits.

However, when the world seemed to come to a standstill, cancer screenings were put off.

Even now as the shutdown has eased, many are still loathe to visit the doctor or go for a mammogram or other cancer screening. That has doctors concerned they'll be seeing more cancers than expected, because treatment that could have prevented a condition from becoming cancerous was postponed.

Hear more from one doctor about why you shouldn't put off your cancer screening, and what's being done to help assure your safety by watching the video of Benita Zahn's story.
