New York's Attorney General has reached a settlement in a hand sanitizer price gouging case.

Attorney General Tish James went after companies using Amazon to sell overpriced hand sanitizer at the start of the pandemic.

James gave one example where a company named Mobile Rush sold eight-ounce bottles of Germ X for $20 to $30 a bottle. The product sells for $1 to $3 a bottle.

Three companies must pay thousands of dollars in fines and restitution to customers.

The attorney general says if you bought the overpriced sanitizer through Amazon, you will get an automatic refund.
