While the pandemic has forced many small business owners to close, it marked a new beginning for others.

After not being able to work for a few months because of the shutdown, Emily Cushing says she realized time with her family is precious. So she found a way to get the best of both worlds, and opened her own store.

The Shop Around the Corner is like stepping into a Hallmark movie. That's what people have told her after their first visit. It's that feeling she hopes keeps people coming back.

The country store focuses on organic and sustainable products. They also do hairstyling.

The shop has now been open for two months, and word of mouth is bringing people in.

Learn more about the journey to open the shop by watching the video of Jacquie Slater's story.
