Albany County started administering the first doses of coronavirus vaccine to 12 to 15-year-olds on Thursday.

County Executive Dan McCoy said Thursday morning that 48.3% of Albany County is fully vaccinated. Now that he has the green light to vaccinate 12 to 15-year-olds, he's hoping that number will jump dramatically.

Albany County Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen says while younger people may not suffer the same consequences from infection as older folks, the dangers are still very real.

Hear her explain why she says it's important for younger people to get vaccinated by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger's story.
