GLENVILLE - Realizing some seniors were concerned about venturing out to the grocery store during the pandemic, Vicki Hillis, the Director of Human Services at Glenville Senior Center, put together a group of grocery shopping volunteers. She got 60 of them in two days.

Through hundreds of grocery runs, they've been able to supply 80 households with food during the pandemic.

While the grocery shopping program has ended, the center is trying to make sure those who haven't returned to the senior citizen center are doing well and eating. They are giving them gift cards to local restaurants.

Hillis was honored for her community work by CDTA, but she credits the community too.

Find out why and hear from one of the recipients about how the program has helped them by watching the video of Elaine Houston's story.
