New York State’s Black Legislative Task Force is honoring hip-hop legends with a festive tribute.

Kurtis Blow, Slick Rick, and radio icons Dr. Bob Lee and G. Keith Alexander were honored by legislators at the State Capitol on Monday, during this Black Music Month.

Blow, a pioneering hip-hop artist, is considered to be the first rapper signed to a major label.

Slick Rick is an iconic rapper and storyteller, known for his lyrical genius.

Black Music Month honors the powerful legacy of Black musicians, songwriters, producers, and cultural icons who have shaped genres from jazz, gospel, R&B, to hip-hop, and beyond.
