NY DEC forest rangers leave for California to fight wildfires

Ten forest rangers from New York's Department of Environmental Conservation are headed to Los Angeles.

Ten forest rangers from New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation are headed to Los Angeles.

They’ll be joining firefighters to help battle the wildfires burning out there.

The rangers left Albany on Thursday morning and are expected to be there for two weeks battling the fires.

The wildfires have killed roughly 25 people and burned more than 40,000 acres.

Gov. Kathy Hochul thanked them for their bravery.
