Police: Schenectady man had meth, mushrooms

A traffic stop has led to drug charges for a Schenectady man.
State Police stopped a vehicle around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 on East Street in Rensselaer for a traffic violation. Stephfon Algarin, 30, was a passenger in the vehicle. He had more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and about $50,000 cash, according to police.
Algarin was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned in Rensselaer City Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
