Police seek man in Bennington sexual assaults

Vermont State Police is looking for a man wanted in connection with two separate sexual assaults in Bennington last September.

James A. Gathright Jr., 56, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Northside Drive in Bennington and a juvenile female days later, on the rail trail near Northside Drive in Bennington, police said.

Gathright is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds. He is bald with brown eyes.

He was last known to be in Bennington around November 2023.
