One of Upstate New York’s most iconic theaters is getting a major boost, thanks to nearly $1 million in funding secured by Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara.
Proctors in downtown Schenectady will receive $968,000 through the “Alive Downtowns!” initiative in the state budget, which is a targeted effort to reinvigorate historic venues that serve as anchors for local economies and the arts.
Assemblyman Santabarbara said, “This is more than a grant, it’s an investment in the heartbeat of our city.”
The funding comes at a time when many arts organizations are still recovering from pandemic-era disruptions.
