Veteran finally awarded high school diploma in East Greenbush after 70 years

A local veteran has now his diploma, 70 years in the making.

Abram Seeberger has received his high school diploma.

Seeberger got the diploma at the Melvin Roads American Legion in East Greenbush, dressed in a Columbia High School blue cap and gown.

This is a part of “Operation Recognition,” a state veterans’ services program that allows veterans who left high school without graduating to be able to get their diploma.

Seeberger attended East Greenbush schools. However, before he graduated, he enlisted in the Army and was deployed to South Korea in 1955.

Family, friends, and veterans went to the special event to celebrate his achievement.
