Tremper Mountain Fire Tower reopening in Catskills

There's some good news if you plan on hiking in the Catskills this summer. The Catskill Center is reopening the Tremper Mountain Fire Tower.

The tower was closed as a precaution due to the pandemic.


Hikers are required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer before and after climbing the metal tower.

If others are in the tower, hikers should wait until they come down before heading up.

The Department of Environmental Conservation reopened its fire towers across the state earlier this month.
