Like many industries right now, the child care industry is seeing a labor shortage. One nanny agency in the Capital Region is seeing an influx of calls because of it.

Melissa Schoonmaker is the agency director at a New England Nanny. She is seeing firsthand right now how much families are struggling to find child care.

"We're getting inundated with calls from families who unfortunately can't find child care due to shortages at the day care with staffing, there's waitlists at the daycares, they're like a year or more," said Schoonmaker.

A New England Nanny provides nannies and other household help to families throughout the Capital Region.

She says even as people to turn to them, they're also looking for employees.

"Obviously, we need good, qualified people to come in and work with our families, so we're trying everything we can to get good quality people through the door," said Schoonmaker.

She adds employers may be noticing the stress on their employees to find childcare. Some families also have concerns about cost.

Learn about how Schoonmaker says they're also trying to help with that by watching the video of Emily De Vito's story.
