The New York state budget earmarks $29.5 billion for schools. That's a $3 billion increase from last year.

The superintendent in Mechanicville tells NewsChannel 13 he's already making plans for their increase in funding.

He says his district is celebrating after a tough year in education due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the fall, districts rearranged budgets and made cuts because they were unsure of what funding from the state for the next year would look like.

Thankfully, the federal government came through, and it has allowed record school funding in the state.

Learn more about how the increase in state funding will help Mechanicville by watching the video of Emily De Vito's story.
