NORTON, Mass. - The Bristol County Sheriff's Department is using a new tool to sniff out the coronavirus in some schools -- three canines.
When we get COVID, a change in our immune system gives off an odor the dogs can detect.
The dogs sniff areas where students have been, but do not check students individually.
For example, if a dog detects COVID in a chair, it can be determined who was sitting in the chair. Parents can then be contacted to see if their child want a COVID test.
Three school districts are taking advantage of the dogs and it doesn't cost them a dime.
